Updated: Black Wall Street Film Releases Trailer

Update: A Short Film/Trailer has been released can be viewed here. It contains strong language so viewer discretion is advised.

In 1915, the KKK was promoted in a film called, “Birth of a Nation.” This was one of many triggers which fueled White male hatred for Black men as it relates to their desire to harm, touch or rape a White woman.  In 1921, a White woman lied about being raped. This led to Oklahoma’s most devastating terrorist attack in history. The film, “Tranquil Inferno” is set in Tulsa, Oklahoma years prior to the massacre. This film showcases how the Blacks in this town constructed the famous, “Black Wall Street” and why the Whites wanted to eviscerate it so badly.

Chet Brewster, known for his work as the mastermind behind Kings of Comedy, 9 of Tyler Perry’s DVD’s and work with both Paul Mooney and Richard Pryor, is set to be the director. The writer is Devin T. Robinson X “Egypt.” An award winning film and book writer. TAJ is the presenting company and John Ruffin Sr. is the executive producer.

From Writer/Producer Devin T. Robinson X “Egypt”:

At 12 years of age, when I lost my mother and father in the same week…I felt abandoned. American history books have abandoned a true American story of a small Black town’s resilience, wealth, and destruction. I’ve received multiple awards and official selections for my script writing but this opportunity to “un-abandon” a child created by America is bigger than awards. This is why I wrote the film, “Tranquil Inferno.”
